About The Auction Group
The Auction Group is an independent UK property auctioneer. We run traditional unconditional auctions through our own online platform, with a strong base in the North West and clients across the country. We are Propertymark Protected. We reward effort and talent, and we promote from within.
The role
As a Trainee Auction Consultant your job is to learn how an auction house works by working closely with experienced people on the team. You will learn to manage the full auction process from start to finish, and to win new auction instructions by working with homeowners who have enquired with us. You will not be cold calling. Most of your time goes on working those enquiries and learning to negotiate sales, with the rest across sales progression, admin, and your own development. This is the entry point into a career in property auctions, and the base from which you grow into the Auction Consultant role.
What you will be doing
- Learning the full auction process, from winning an instruction through to completion
- Helping progress agreed sales through to a completed transaction
- Keeping accurate records and meeting compliance requirements
- Working through structured training, and your own research outside the office
Training and support
You have a lot to learn at this stage, and the support around you is built for it. An experienced Auction Consultant will mentor you through your first weeks and months, with regular check-ins and training as you find your feet. As you develop, there are further training and qualification routes open to you, including the option to work towards a NAVA qualification.
Progression
Most people reach full Auction Consultant status in three to six months, depending on how quickly they pick it up. For the right person it can be sooner. You will always know how you are doing, with clear goals agreed between you and your mentor along the way.
